Angela (Jody) Stewart Long, age 58, passed away unexpectedly July 14, 2020 at Starr Regional Hospital in Etowah. She has lived most of her life in Etowah. Jody was a member of Brookhill Baptist church and a member of the Etowah Eastern Star #96, and graduated in 1980 from McMinn Central High School.
Jody was preceded in death by her mother, Mary (Tinker) Deal Buckner; father, Ronnie S. Stewart; grandparents, Proyce and Edith Davis Stewart and Claude and Lorene Daniels Parsons; Uncles, Buddy Parsons, Terry Stewart, and Kenny Stewart; Aunt, Sissy Parsons Stewart.
She is survived by her husband of 23 years, Michael A Long of Etowah; one stepson, Chris Long of Etowah; sister and brother-in-law, Bobbie and Ray Brown of Etowah; brothers, Stephen Stewart and Dale Parsons, both of Etowah; step sister, Elaine Shugart Stewart of Athens; aunts, Linda Carney of Etowah and Faye Parsons of Etowah; uncles, Wayne Parsons of Etowah and Roger Stewart of Benton; brothers-in-law and one sister—in-law, Steve and Laurie Long of Etowah, Thomas Long of Etowah, and Shawn Long of Etowah; mother-in-law Joyce Maloney; father-in-law Sam Long; nine nephews, Josh Brown, Cory Parsons, Cole Parsons, Ethan Parsons, Hunter Long, Corey Long, James Stewart, Jeremy Stewart, and Jason Stewart; two nieces, Shelby Stewart and Elaina Long, and other nieces and nephew; and very special friends, Sandy and Glen Riggs, Christine Lowery, Barbie Knox, Diane Locke, Tammy Locke Averette, and Lisa Locke Coleman.
A Celebration of Life Service will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. Friday, July 17, 2020 from the Chapel of Serenity Funeral Home with the Reverend Jonathan Rayburn, officiating. Interment will follow in New Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery. With Pallbearers will be Reed Brown, Glen Riggs, Steve Long, Cory Parsons, Scott Thompson, Donald (Tater) Crumley, Hunter Long and Jimmy Stewart.
Honorary Pallbearers are Jim Bruce Haney, Stephen Stewart, Dale Parsons, Josh Brown, Matthew Morgan and Cory Long.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, July 16, 2020 from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. in the Funeral Home Chapel.
