Carlene Smith Britton

July 15, 1936 — February 13, 2022

Carlene ‘Buttons’ Smith Britton was received into the Lord's Kingdom a little after 3 am, Sunday, February 13, 2022.

A celebration of life will be held at South Coast Pizza (https://southcoastpizza.com/), 865 - 200 - 5818, 1103 Sevier Avenue, Knoxville, Tennessee, 37920 on Monday, February 21, 2022, from around 6 pm.

She is survived by her brother, Carl Eugene ‘Bud’ Smith, Jr., and her sons Chris J McKinyen and andrew ‘al’ britton.

Familial surviving families in name and in spirit including Stephanie Dawn Britton and child; Laura Ra'Chell Britton, and Jayden Britton - Drew and Laurell Rozlynn Elizabeth Thea Britton; Eric Leigh Britton and Zoie Saige Mikkell Britton; Logan Shea Flanagan and children; grandson Chris J ’Cody’ McKinyen, Junior, and Deanna Lambert, great grandson Elliot Cody McKinyen, and Vera Lambert; the family of nephew Scott Smith which are Eve and Carmen; nephew Darren Smith and family Cyndi and Sophia; cousins Kathy Poore; Tonya Knopps, and Amanda Knopps; among many others.

She will be greeted by those who have preceded her, such as father and mother Carl Eugene Smith and Mildred Gertrude ‘Mom’ ‘Bess’ (Rhea) Smith Galbraith; son Noel Gene McKinyen and bonus son Lorin Russell Timothy Edward Britton; nephew Scott Smith; aunt Mary Smiddy; cousin Mickie Poore; and a child and a grandchild which were not born ….

She will also be missed by many cousins, friends in South Knoxville and all over Knoxville, and from businesses such as the bakery, the newspaper, and call centers.

She attended Central High School and graduated from South High School.  She took classes to advance her expertise in clerical fields.

She loved animals and has been greeted at the Rainbow Bridge by all of them, pets and wild.

She always had such a positive outlook and a pleasant word for everyone, and sincerely enjoyed seeking out company and engaging in conversation.  She listened very well.  She loved reading, nature, and the outdoors, and playing the piano.

a demonstration of love and appreciation for her well - lived life could be (in lieu of flowers) to make a donation to a local no - kill shelter or literacy program in your area, or to volunteer at Young - Williams Animal Center in Knoxville, or at your local library.  Contribute in her name, and in the names of her parents, a fireman and a nurse's aide.
