It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Carrie Marie Church, she died at the age of 79 on Friday, June 23, 2023 at home in Athens, TN. Carrie passed away surrounded by loved ones after her recent diagnosis and battle with cancer. She will be truly missed by all.
She was preceded in death by her wonderful husband and best friend of 54 years, Archie D. Church, Sr.; mother, Florence Smith; father, Ellwyn Hill; son, William Bliss; and many other loving family and friends.
Carrie enjoyed watching the ION Channel, she really liked mystery/detective shows, she loved reading her Bible and she watched Charles Stanley faithfully every Sunday morning. Carrie had a beautiful smile; she was always smiling. She had a soft voice and a kind, loving heart. Her faith was very strong, and she loved God. She always tried her best encouraging others to do right, she was a peacekeeper and she always made everyone feel loved, important and cared about. Carrie always gave the greatest hugs, spending lots of her time with her family.
Carrie is survived by her children, Lillian (Dale) Harvey; Winthia L. (Bodi) Mikalunas; Archie (Rebecca) Church Jr.; daughter, Carmen M. Rose, her fiancé Eddie C. Borden; James C. Dungey; grandchildren, Dylan B. Rose, (Laura B. Hobbs), Jonathan David Rose, (Mary Beth Beasley), Brandon D. Brown, (Jordan Spring), Katie N. (Matthew) Mowers, Dominick Church, Ashley Church, her fiancé Justin Epple, Bradley Church, Katelynn Dungey, Gregory Harvey, Christopher (Megan) Harvey, Johnathon Harvey, Josh (Amanda) Mikalunas, Jake Mikalunas, and Bo (Ashley) Mikalunas. She had so many special, loved great grandchildren and special friends Reba Lance, Lillian Long and Shanedra.
The family will receive friends Monday, July 3rd, 2023, from 5 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. in the Chapel at Serenity Funeral Home in Etowah, TN. Funeral Services will be held July 5, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Gerald Lynn officiating. Interment will follow in the Chattanooga National Cemetery for Veteran’s at 1:30 p.m. following funeral service.
