Charles Worthy age 75, of Englewood, departed this life on Saturday, May 4, 2019 at his residence. He was born on April 18, 1944 and was a longtime member of Shoal Creek Gospel Tabernacle where he was the song leader and played guitar. He loved his family, singing, coon hunting, and fishing. He was retired from Vestal Manufacturing where he worked for forty five years.
He was preceded in death by his father, James Worthy and mother, Frankie Louise Clowers Worthy; brothers, Elmer Worthy and Robert Worthy; sisters, Polly Mae Fyffe, Etta Sue Morgan, Mamie Lou Morgan, and Hattie Moses; and father and mother-in-law, Monroe and Maude Harris
Survivors include his loving wife of 53 years, Nellie Worthy; daughters, Lisa Worthy and Angela McLemore; son-in-law, Leon McLemore; grandchildren, Serenity Worthy and Charles Daniel McLemore; brother, James Worthy, Jr.;sisters –in-law, Loucille, Irene, Gena Faye, and Mag; brother-in-law, Don Harris and wife Janice.
A Celebration of Life and Home going for Charles Worthy will be held at 3:30 P.M. Wednesday, May 8, 2019 from the chapel of Serenity Funeral Home with Reverend Don Harris and Reverend Mitchell Bradley officiating. Interment will follow in the New Bethel Church of God Cemetery with Reverend Melvin Reagan officiating the committal service.
The family will receive friends from 5- 8 P.M. on Tuesday, May 7 at the funeral home.
