Danny Pritchett, passed away on January 9, 2023, surrounded by family at his residence in Claxton. He was 67 years old. The family is deeply saddened by his death. Danny was born on December 30th, 1956, Ten Mile, Tennessee. Danny was a member of Double Springs Baptist Church in the Claxton Community, where he served as Treasurer.
Danny is proceeded in death by his mother Mary Lou Pritchett Simonds.
Danny is survived and missed dearly by his loving wife, Robin Hamilton Pritchett of 48 years; children, Daniel Pritchett (Kristi) and Diana Elrod (Chris), all of Etowah. He will be forever cherished and remembered by his three grandchildren, Triston Pritchett (Trinity), Blake Elrod (Hayley), and Rain Pritchett. One great-grandchild, Zanity Pritchett (Father Triston). Siblings and their families; Tom Pritchett (May), Edna Pilkey (Roy), and Jarome Pritchett. Danny always referred to Jacky Cook (Wendy) as his adopted child, whom he loved unconditionally just as he did all of his children. Danny has several special nieces and nephews, which he treated as his own in every aspect of life. Everyone whom Danny loved, felt and knew the kind of unconditional love the world needs.
Danny is the owner of Tax Solutions, where he was able to execute his passion for helping people. Not only did Danny aid people with tax preparation, but he also always took time to answer questions and do extra work to ensure every client was cared for and reduce their burden. He was also a retired employee of Textron in Athens. Danny’s most recent job before retirement was with R&D Logistics, where he and Robin had the opportunity to travel the United States together. Danny was an avid entrepreneur and owned several businesses in McMinn County throughout his life.
Danny and Robin were often referred to as the Mom and Dad of Georgia Ave. in Etowah, where they mentored and helped raise many children in the 90s. Each night, their family of four always turned into a family of 10-15, as all of the neighborhood kids gathered at the dinner table circled with chairs, buckets, end tables, or whatever else they could use as makeshift chairs. No matter what was for dinner, he made sure there was always enough. Family vacations were the same. Whoever could fit in the van could go. No invitation was needed, just show up and jump in. Danny was also an avid volunteer in the community where he coached t-ball, baseball, girls’ softball, and was an active member of Boy Scout Troop 74. Danny loved to hunt, camp, hike, and spend time with his family, no matter where.
Danny loved being a dad but loved being a Papaw the most. He and Robin have always taken an active role in their grandchildren’s lives. Danny was at every soccer game Triston played, sporting his team colors with pride. He was also an avid follower and volunteer for Central Football (youth & high school) in Etowah and any other sport their grandson Blake played. If you visited the concession stand, you without a doubt saw Danny and Robin cooking and serving food at every game. He spoke often of how he was proud of Rain for her accomplishments and the young lady she is becoming. She was always his cupcake and baby girl.
As Danny neared his last days, his family asked him what his greatest accomplishment was and he said without hesitation, his family. The one thing he wished he had done, and did not, was “adopt every one of those kids on Georgia Avenue so they could have been his.”
The family will receive friends from 12-2 pm on January 14th at Serenity Funeral Home in Etowah. A memorial service will follow the receiving of friends at 2 pm with Pastor Greg Charles officiating. Burial will be at Double Springs Baptist Church in the Claxton Community.
