Don Alan Peterson, age 70 of Etowah, departed this life on Sunday evening, May 31, 2020 at his residence. Born in Georgia on October 6, 1949 to the late Floyd and Louise Peterson, he proudly served his country in the United States Army during Vietnam and was retired from CSX Railroad. He enjoyed being outdoors, fishing, hunting, cooking and woodworking.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his sister, Robin Peterson and brother, Brad Peterson.
Don is survived by his wife, Eveleen Kirkland Peterson; sons, Ken(Angela) Peterson of Etowah, Craig(Misty) Peterson of Etowah, and Rusty Peterson of Etowah; step-daughters, Tonya (David) Freeman of Vonore and Karen ( Matt) Derrick of Rossville, Georgia; nephews, Hunter (Dana) Peterson of Etowah and Matt( Laura) McNutt of Calhoun; special friend, Arley Fincher of Delano; grandchildren, Timber, Emery, Gavin, Reagan, Lauren, and Maggie Peterson; Dawson Kinkaid, Brooke Freeman; and MJ and Cooper Derrick; great-nephews, Jesse Holden, Brady and Caden McNutt.
A graveside service to celebrate the life and home going of Don Alan Peterson will be held at 11:00 A.M, Saturday, June 6, 2020 at Green Hill Cemetery with Pastor Gary Higgins officiating.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks donations be made to a church of your choice or the Disabled American Veterans Charity at www.dav.org
