Jo Pressley Carver

Jo Pressley Carver, age 81 of Calhoun, passed away at her home on Wednesday, January 22, 2020.  She was a native and lifelong resident of the Chestuee Community of Polk County and a member of Chestuee Baptist Church. She was an avid cook for the community, and owned the Clown House. 

Jo was a meticulous homemaker and loved spending time with her family.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Herbert and Elizabeth Pressley; husband, George “G.W.” Carver; and one sister, Evelyn Smith.

Jo is survived by four children, Karen Patterson of Cleveland, Gary (Sherry) Patterson of Charleston, Casey (Stephanie) Carver of Benton, and Christy (Joseph) Sears of Calhoun;  fourteen grandchildren, Kelly Sullivan, Brian (Laura) Patterson,  Amanda (Damian) Szidiropulosz, Carissa (Trey) Benton, Melissa (Terry) Young, Emily Nicki (Harmon) Varnell, Raven (Brad) Kaylor, BreAnna (Matt) Bivens, Catey Carver, Drew Lockhart, Drake Lockhart, Sara Carver, Dakota Carver and Cole Sears; sixteen great grandchildren; one brother Bill (Doris) Pressley of Calhoun.

The Celebration of Life and Home Going will be held on Saturday, January 25, 2020 at 7 p.m. at the Serenity Funeral Home Chapel in Etowah.  The Graveside Service will be held on Sunday, January 26, 2020 at 2 p.m. in the Chestuee Baptist Church Cemetery with Pastor Gary Moats and Reverend Daniel Stewart officiating.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, from 5 p.m. – 7 p.m. prior to the funeral service.
