Evelyn Cochran Wilson

August 6, 1938 — September 1, 2019

Evelyn Cochran Wilson, age 81, 0f Etowah, departed this life on Sunday, September 1, 2019 at the University of Tennessee Medical Center. Born in Englewood to the late Floyd and Stella Sneed Cochran, she lived several years in Virginia before returning to McMinn County in 1974.  Evelyn loved visiting nursing home patients and was in cardiac rehab for twenty years at NHC and had a lot of close friends there. She was a member of Goodsprings Baptist Church and loved being active in the church. She enjoyed watching the Tennessee Vols and was known in the family and the community as the Chocolate Chip Cookie Maker.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Gene Wilson.

She is survived by her daughter, Gena (Mike) Jenkins of Chattanooga; sister, Wanda Brooks of Englewood; brother, F.L. (Janet) Cochran of Porter Indiana; step-grandchildren, Aidan Jenkins and Ava Jenkins; and a sister-in-law, Wanda (Amos) Callihan of Signal Mountain.

A Graveside service will be held at 2p.m. Thursday, September 5, 2019 at McMinn Memory Gardens with Brother David Lones officiating.

There will be no formal visitation at the funeral home.

 In lieu of flowers, please consider donations is Evelyn’s name to Goodsprings Baptist Church or St Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
