Harold Junior Tallent

 Harold Tallent, age 83 of Athens, departed this life on Saturday, February 22, 2020 at his residence.  Born on March 30, 1936 in Etowah to the late Guffey and Elsie Buckner Tallent, he attended West End Baptist Church and was an avid gardener, and loved dairy farming, fishing, and spending time with his family.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his sister, Janice Tallent; and brother in laws, Olin Shattes, Jessee Moses, Isaac Jones, and Carry Robinson.

 Harold is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Frankie Quillen Tallent; children, Jimmy and Denise Tallent of Decatur, Ricky and Jill Tallent of Cleveland, Melissa Burrell of Englewood, Sonya and Doug Winford of Athens, and April and Michael McDougal of Cleveland;siblings,Dana and Charles Ray Shelton of Athens, Mae Shattes of Athens, Virginia and Herbert Dodson of Sparta, Larry and Penny Tallent of Decatur, Carry Tallent of Athens, Tommy and Virginia Tallent Lela Tallent of Athens, Evalena Moses of Niota, Rachel Jonesof Madisonville, Ivalena Robinson of Etowah, and Helen and Jerry Winder of Birmingham; fourteen grandchildren and twenty-one great-grandchildren along with several nieces, nephews, and other extended family and a host of friends.

A Celebration of Life and Home going for Harold Junior Tallent will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Wednesday, February 26, 2020 from the funeral home chapel with Brother Don Harris officiating. Interment will follow in Cedar Grove Cemetery with Ricky Tallent, Jimmy Tallent, Kirk Winford,  Jeremy Millsaps, James Burrell, Michael Burrell, Carry Tallent, Jonathan Millsaps, and Carter Tallent serving as pallbearers.

The family will receive friends from 5-8 P.M.  on Tuesday, February 25, 2020 at the funeral home.
