Helen Caldwell Obituary Helen (Bobinski) Caldwell, 100, of Athens, TN passed away peacefully surrounded by family in her home at Dominion Senior Living of Athens. Helen was born on June 1, 1924, in Manchester, NH and she resided there until 2019 at which time she moved to Englewood, TN to live near, and be cared for by her family. Helen was the first, and only child in her immediate family to graduate high school. She married Edward Caldwell in 1946, and they had one child, Dennis, in 1948. She retired from what is now known as Honeywell International Corp. in Manchester, NH, around 1986. Post retirement the couple travelled across the U.S. to California to visit family and see all the sights along the way. Later, they enjoyed another road trip to Alaska. Helen and Edward stayed active well into their 80’s with multiple daily walks, ice skating with friends until she was 89, outings with close friends and family, short road trips throughout scenic N.H., and ventured into Vermont to visit family often until travelling out of town became too challenging due to aging. In 2018, after 72 years of marriage, Edward predeceased Helen at the age of 96. Helen was also predeceased by her parents, Alexander and Theodora (Hilarzak) Bobinski, 3 sisters, and 3 brothers. Helen leaves behind her son, Dennis Caldwell his wife Mary, of Englewood, TN, nieces Janice Hewitt of Bristol, NH and Judy Bobinski of CA, two grandsons including Scott Caldwell, his wife Jessica of Englewood, TN and Jason Caldwell, his wife Jennifer of Sweetwater, TN, as well as several great-grandsons, great-granddaughters, one great grandson-in-law, and 2 great-great grandchildren with one more due in October. Helen and Edward both had a strong bond and family-like relationship with their neighbors Steve and April St. Jean of Manchester, NH. Family meant everything to Helen, she never stopped caring for everyone for as long as she was physically able. She prepared many meals, attended many birthday and holiday celebrations. If she couldn’t physically attend these events, she always sent a greeting card and gift. She was kind, generous, a provider of fun and comfort to so many loved ones and never asked for anything in return. Her arms held and comforted many babies, and she lovingly rocked them all to sleep with ease. It was one of her greatest joys. She was a true blessing and will be missed deeply. Following cremation in TN, Helen will be laid to rest alongside her late husband at New Hampshire State Veterans Cemetery of Boscawen, NH at an undetermined date. There is no funeral planned at this time. Poole Funeral Home of Etowah, TN is overseeing her end-of-life arrangements.
