James (Jamie) Eric Black 49, and his wife, Ronda Welch Black together entered into eternal rest on Friday, June 26, 2020 near Murfreesboro, TN as the result of an automobile accident. Jamie and Ronda were married January 3, 2017.
Jamie was a graduate of McMinn Central High School where he lettered in football. He was also an avid golfer. He was an employee of CSX Transportation Company
Jamie was an Army combat veteran of Desert Storm-Kuwait. He was recipient of many awards including Army Achievement, Good Conduct, National Defense Service medal, Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon, Combat Infantryman badge, Expert Badge Grenade, Sharp Shooter Missile, Marksman Badge Rifle, SW Asia Service Medal, Bronze Service Star, Kuwait Liberation Medal.
He was the son of Linda McDermott of Etowah and James Black of Madisonville and the late Luther McDermott. Jamie was also preceded in death by grandparents Margaret and Charlie Williams and Bill and Fannie Black.
He will be truly missed by his daughters, Vanessa (Todd) Deal of Salisbury, PA and Jasmine (Conner) Vestal of Waukegan, IL, brothers Brian (Julie) Black of Greenback, Riley Black of Madisonville and sister Nikki Black also of Madisonville. Stepchildren, Maleeyah (Tomorian) Montgomery and Jaylyn (Alexis) Slaughter. He is also survived by ten grandchildren; three aunts, Nancy Upson, Laura Davis, and Diane Toyson, one uncle William Black.
The Family of James (Jamie) Black will receive friends on Friday, July 3, 2020 from 4-8 p.m. with services on Saturday, July 4 at 2:00 p.m. at Serenity Funeral Home in Etowah. Burial will be in Greenhill Cemetery, Etowah.
