James David Merrell

David Merrell, 75, passed away Tuesday, January 19, 2021 at his home with his family by his side. He was retired from Shaw. He loved going to church, was a deacon at Servilla Baptist Church. He loved being outdoors taking care of his garden, but more than anything else, he enjoyed being around his family, especially his grandchildren.

David is preceded in death by parents, Hoyt and Mary Merrell; son, Jay Merrell; brothers, Homer Merrell and Hubert Merrell and sisters Reble Greene, Maudie Martin.

Survivors include: Loretta Merrell, wife of 54 years; son and daughter-in-law, James and Lisa Merrell; Guinn Merrell, Garrett (Patty) Merrell; daughter and son-in-law, Mondella and Mark Bates; brother, Johnny (Mollie) Merrell; 3 grandchildren, Trainer Merrell, Chelsea Merrell and Rose Merrell, all of Reliance and several nieces, nephews and many friends.

Graveside service will be held Thursday, January 21, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. at Merrell’s Cemetery with Pastor David Merrell officiating. Interment will immediately follow.
