Jeri Aleta Witt, age 55 of Englewood, departed this life on Tuesday morning, April 2, 2019 at the Hospice of Chattanooga Care Center in Chattanooga. Born on March 6, 1964, she was a native and lifelong resident of McMinn County and was of the Baptist faith. She was a1982 graduate McMinn Central High School and was employed with Jiffy as a manager until her illness.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Joyce Cross Witt; fiancé, Gary Smith; maternal grandparents, Mary and Thaddeus B. Cross; paternal grandparents, John “Pappaw” and Marie Witt; nephew, James Austin Gay; and great-niece, Cassidy A. Witt
Jeri is survived by her son, Stephen Witt of Englewood; father, Johnny Witt of Etowah; brother, Pete (Teresa) Witt of Athens; sisters, Jana(Wayne)Gay of Etowah and Jeanette(Doug)Lowe of Etowah; nieces and nephews, Jason (Amanda) Witt, Nikishi Witt(Travis)Greene, Kagan Witt, Aaron Haggart, Justin(Amber)Gay, Wendy (Jason)Giles, Matthew(Brittany) Mellott, and Kacy Guffey(Zach)Fowler; special cousin, Princess Arwood of Madisonville; and special friend, Gary Hester of Calhoun. Several great nieces, nephews, and other extended family and friends also survive.
A Celebration of Life and Home going for Jeri Aleta Witt will be held at 7p.m. Thursday, April 4, 2019 from the chapel of Serenity Funeral Home with Brother Mark Hensley officiating.
Family and friends will meet at 9:30 a.m. Friday, April 5, 2019 at the funeral home and proceed to the Etowah City Cemetery for the committal service.
The family will receive friends from 5-7p.m on Thursday at the funeral home prior to the service.
