Jerry Cox, age 71, of Etowah, departed this life on Thursday, May 14, 2020 at his home. Born on January 31, 1949 to the late Jack and Ruth Cox, he was a native and lifelong resident of McMinn County and was of the Christian faith. Jerry was a veteran of the United States Army serving his country in Vietnam and was retired from CSX Railroad. He loved fishing and was an avid sports fan supporting the University of Tennessee and McMinn Central and loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren who were his pride and joy. Jerry was a kind and generous person and was loved and will be missed by many.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Anne Norwood Cox; sister and her husband, Sue and Bob Stewart; sister-in-law, Pamela Jean Cox; and brothers-in-law, Harry E. Parker and Raymond Land.

Jerry is survived by his daughter, Jerri Anne(Dennis) Coleman of Englewood; son Jason Cox of Etowah; granddaughters, Samantha and Isabella Coleman of Englewood; siblings, Billie Parker of Benton, Jackie(Frank) McClary of Etowah, Johnny Cox of Sweetwater, Melinda Land of Etowah, and special cousin, Steve Cox. Several nieces, nephews, and other extended family and a host of co-workers and friends survive.

 

A graveside service to celebrate the life of Jerry Wayne Cox will be held at 11:00A.M. Saturday, May 23, 2020 at Green Hill Cemetery with Reverend Katie Morgan-Harper officiating.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks memorial contributions be made to the McMinn Regional Humane Society.
