Johnny “John” Wayne McCollister, beloved and devoted Husband, Father, Pawpaw and so much more, graduated from this earthly life to his eternal home in Heaven to be with his Lord and Savior, Sunday morning, November 20, 2022. He was born 64 years ago, on Wednesday, April 23, 1958 in Indianapolis, IN to his parents, the late Doyle and Frankie Eulene Casteel McCollister. He resided in Madisonville, TN for going on 20 years. His professions were in carpentry and both, auto and jewelry sales. Johnny’s favorite things to do included spending time making priceless memories with his family, helping others, and after surrendering his heart to Jesus, in late summer of 2020, he wanted others to know that in his words, “I walk with the Man who walked on water.”
Preceded in death by his grandparents, Gurthie and Susie Mae Hyde McCollister, Gordon and Perry Mae Allmon Casteel; brother, Terry McCollister; niece, April McCollister; father-in-law, Larry Galyon; a host of other family members.
Johnny is survived by the love of his life and wife of 16 years, Melissa McCollister; cherished children and their loves, son, Brandon McCollister (Melissa); daughter, Larissa McCollister (Chandler); bonus son, Jonathan Bell (Tamara); bonus daughter, Karah Walter (Carl); granddaughters, who made his world complete, Klarissa, Sarah, Addelyn, Paisley, Payton; sister and brother-in-law, Ruth and Paul Heady; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Butch and Sue Donley; sisters-in-law and husbands, Alicia Kaczmarczyk (Chris), Amanda Perdue (Brian); brother-in-law and his love, Brett Donley and Siobhan; brother-in-law and wife, Jason Galyon (Joy); nieces and nephews, Terry Lynn Lytle, Zoey Beskow, Zach, Ronald Weddle, Jr. and wife Katrina, Adam Weddle and wife Alicia, Ryan and Evan Kaczmarczyk, Zayne Jentz, Cooper and Griffin Galyon, Gunner, Seamus; cherished pet, Montana; a host of aunts, cousins, and many family and friends.
Johnny’s Celebration of Life will be held 1:00 p.m. Saturday, December 10, 2022, Friends Meeting of Ballplay Church, Tellico Plains, with Rev. Scott Knight officiating. Family will receive friends from 12:00 p.m. – 1:00 p.m. prior to service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Friends Meeting of Ballplay Church 157 Ballplay School Rd.
