Karen Galloway was born on June 12, 1968 to Tommy and Kathe Galloway in Lake Wales, FL. She never married and called her dogs her fur babies. She lavished love and attention on them and all those around her. She was always helping others. Many called her friend, and some called her family. All who met her, loved her.
She’ll be fondly remembered for her giving spirit and always being one who took time for those around her. She loved spending time with friends and family. Some of her favorite activities included water skiing, hiking in the mountains, and adventuring via camping, rock climbing & mountain biking. She also traveled the world including experiencing Korea and Europe as part of Team Florida basketball team & touring New Zealand and Australia with a close friend. She also enjoyed gardening, reading, and watching movies. Karen was an excellent scholar and athlete, excelling in 3 sports during all 4 years in high school. She played collegiate basketball at Auburn and FSU of whom many teammates became lifelong friends. While at FSU, she was very active in FCA, Fellowship of Christian Athletes, where she made strong friendships and connections.
On January 13, 2024, Karen lost her second battle with ovarian cancer. As it says in 2 Timothy 4:7, “I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.” And she did!
Karen is survived by her father, Tommy; mother, Kathe; brother, Mark; sister-in-law, Kim; niece, Aidan (aka Sweet Pea); as well as many aunts, uncles, cousins, and a host of friends.
No services will be held at this time. A celebration of life is planned on March 16, 2024 from 2-5pm at First Christian Church Maryville.
