Lamar Ellison, age 58, of Etowah, departed this life on Wednesday, March 13, 2019 at the University Of Tennessee Medical Center. Born in Athens on September 7, 1960, he spent his teenage years in North Carolina before moving back to Tennessee in 1981 and proudly served his country in the United States Navy. Lamar was an avid Tennessee football and basketball fan and enjoyed spending time outdoors and with his family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, Lawrence Ellison and his maternal grandmother, Rozelle Marcus.
He is survived by his loving wife of 35 years, Carol Brackett Ellison ; daughters, Brandi Wheaton of Etowah, Paige(Justin)Lange of Englewood, and Megan Baker of Etowah; grandchildren, Brianna Wheaton, Hopelyn Wheaton, Kaitlyn Moses, Brody Pierce, Haleigh Baker, and Reace Baker; and mother-in-law, Aldean Brackett of Etowah. Several other extended family and numerous friends also survive.
A Celebration of Life and Home going for Lamar Ellison will be held at 8p.m. Saturday, March 16, 2019 from the chapel of Serenity Funeral Home with Brother Roger Baker officiating.
Family and friends will assemble at the funeral home at 1:30p.m. Sunday, March 17, 2019 and proceed to Etowah Cemetery for the 2p.m. concluding service with Travis Brackett, David Cranfield, Dustin Shelton, Hopelyn Wheaton, Kaitlyn Moses, and Justin Lange serving as pallbearers.
The family will receive friends from 6-8p.m. Saturday prior to the service at the funeral home.
