Larry Brent Barker

February 23, 1956 — July 27, 2022

On Wednesday, July 27, 2022, Larry B. Barker, loving husband, daddy, and papa, passed away at the age of 66 after suffering a major stroke in December 2014 that left him with numerous health issues he battled until his passing.

Larry was born in St. Petersburg, FL, but lived the majority of his life in the Upstate area of SC where he and his wife of 40 years, Donna Spearman Barker, raised their daughter, Melissa. In 2013, Larry and Donna moved to the East Tennessee Mountains, where he lived until his passing.

Larry loved the outdoors and enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, and gardening, while his health allowed, but his greatest joy was spending time with his family and being a Papa. He loved his granddaughters, who were the light of his life.

Larry was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Joanna Starr Barker; parents, Junior and Joanne Barker; numerous aunts and uncles, and niece Lindsey Barker.

Larry is survived by his wife, Donna; daughter and son-in-law, Melissa and Chris Hendricks; granddaughters, Gracelyn and Ansleigh Hendricks; brothers, Randy (Sherry) and Robbie (Cindy) Barker; sisters, Tanya Hammond (Danny) and Louise Barker; aunt, Peggy Groce; brothers-in-law, Rufus Jr., Gary, Victor, and Bobby Spearman; and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.

An informal Memorial Service is scheduled for Friday, August 19, 2022, starting at 6:00 p.m. at Shelter #5 at Paris Mountain State Park in Greenville, SC. We will share stories and memories in celebration of Larry’s life followed by a potluck dinner. All friends and family are invited to attend. Please feel free to bring any pictures and stories you would like to share.
