Lucille Townsend Longwith passed peacefully Tuesday morning Dec 18, 2018 at her home in Calhoun, Tennessee where she had resided for many decades. Lucille was a long time member of Calhoun First Baptist making numerous contributions. Lucille worked tirelessly for many years along with husband Tom and son Jerry on their farm in Calhoun raising the famous “McMinn County Cantaloupes”, watermelons and tobacco along with multiple gardens and beef cattle. Many fine young men learned the value of a hard day’s work while helping the family on the farm. These young men were also taught Christian values along the way. Too many mouths to count were fed by Lucy through the years.
With Lucy’s son Jerry becoming ill in the ninety’s she stayed by his side and cared for him over 15 years never wavering until his move to the Lord’s home. Lucille loved her family, friends and the Lord and will be dearly missed by all.
Preceding her in death husband Tom Townsend, husband Warren Longwith, daughter Joyce Townsend Jones, her husband Lee, son Jerry Townsend. Also sisters Edna Bradford Taylor, husband Herschel, Patter Bradford Plott and husband Preacher, and brother Ted Bradford and wife Betty. Nephews Bob Townsend, Bobby Byrum and wife Jackie and Brad Byrum.
Lucy is survived by her grandsons, Reynolds Taylor Jones and Cameron Townsend Jones, wife Jane. Great grandchildren Tristan Ty Jones, his fiancé Summer Collins, Taurean Davis Jones and Serenity Lee Jones. Also surviving Lucy are nephews Franklin Bradford, wife Charlsie, Pat Bryrum, wife Faye and Dr. Steve Byrum and wife Phyllis. Lucy is also survived by longtime friend Charles Austin and the administrator of her advocacy and care, Stephanie Bucy. Special thanks to Avalon and the Jess and Shaunna Kirby family.
