Marlon Lunsford, age 78 of Etowah, departed this life on Wednesday, December 11, 2019 at his home. Born in Clearmont, Georgia on September 13, 1941 to the late Wayne and Gladys Smallwood Lunsford, he served his Country in the United States Army and was a member of Mars Hill United Methodist Church. He was previously employed at Beunit Fibers in Etowah, and drove an over the road truck and later on was a carrier for the Daily Post Athenian.
In addition to his parents, He was preceded in death by his brother Wayne A. Lunsford, Jr.
Survivors include his loving wife of 51 years, Helen Houston Lunsford; daughters, Cassandra (Sky) Haren of Athens and Shannon (Scott) Zinkiewicz of Crossville, Tennessee; grandsons, Ryland Haren, Thomas Haren, and Nate Haren; granddaughters, Hailey Lunsford and Courtney Wells; sister Rhonda Niesler of Athens; brother, Doug Lunsford of Calhoun; brother-in-law, Glen and Becky Houston of Charleston; and several nieces, nephews, and other extended family.
A Celebration of Life and Home going for Marlon Hillery Lunsford will be held at 2P.M. Sunday, December 15, 2019 from the Chapel of Serenity Funeral Home. Interment will follow in the Council Baptist Church Cemetery with Military Honors concluding the service. Active pallbearers will be Ryland, Thomas, and Nate Haren, James and Seth Lunsford and Jordan Houston. Honorary pallbearers will be granddaughters Hailey and Courtney.
The family will receive friends from 12 noon until the funeral hour on Sunday.
