Mary Altys Calhoun

 Mary Calhoun, age91, of Etowah, departed this life on Saturday, June 20, 2020 at Etowah Healthcare where she received loving care for the past several years. Born on November 30,1928 in the Carlock community to the late Cary and Vera Corn Green, she was a lifelong resident of McMinn County and was a longtime member of North Etowah Baptist Church. Her favorite jobs include Bowater, Miracle Lake, and Tennessee Overhill. Mary was devoted to all her friends and family and loved unconditionally. She always felt the need to reach out and help others in need. She will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all who knew her.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Violet Williams, and niece Deborah Shamblin.

Survivors include daughter, Carolyn (Larry)Smith of Athens; son, Max(Debbie)Calhoun of Etowah; Harold Davis of Florida whom she claimed as a son; granddaughters, Rhonda(Darren)Johnson,, Donna(Lance)Townsend, Cindy Dailey, and Michell Maxwell; grandsons, Eric(Missy) Calhoun and Jason Smith ;great-granddaughters, Lexi(Josh) Warfield, Haley (Michael)Wilson, and Cheyenne Johnson; great-grandsons, Connor Dailey, Joseph, Andy, and Kyle Maxwell; great great-granddaughters, McKenzie Wilson and Mia Warfield; great great-grandsons, Neyland Warfield, Jordan Wilson; and a special nephew, Robert Williams; as well as several extended family and a host of friends.

A Celebration of Life and Home going for Mary Altys Calhoun will be held at 4p.m. Monday, June 22, 2020 from the funeral home chapel with Brother Jack Bryan officiating. Interment will follow in Coghill Baptist Church Cemetery with Wayne Davis, Lance Townsend, Darren Johnson, Rual Watson, James Janes and Michael Wilson serving as pallbearers.

The family will receive friends from 2-4pm on Monday prior to the service at the funeral home.
