Melba Jo Cherry born August 16, 1952, went home to be with the Lord Sunday, August 25, 2019 after a brief battle with sickness. She spoiled her kids and grandkids, loved her family and friends fiercely, smiled a lot, laughed more, and brightened the lives of others she met along life’s journey. She missed her father Willie Coe, mother Bobbie Coe, and brother Tony Coe who all preceded her in death. By their faith in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior they are together again in glory.
Melba is survived by her sister and brother-in-law, Midge and Ken Jarvis of Friendsville, TN. She is also survived by three children each of whom is convinced of being her favorite. They include son and daughter-in-law Todd and Kristi Loveday of Englewood; son and daughter-in-law Travis and Lori Loveday of Cleveland; and daughter and son-in-law Misty Smith and Steve Wall of Etowah. She is also survived by six grandchildren each of whom is also convinced of being her favorite. They are Trent Smith, Sydney Wall, Sara Loveday, Joshua Loveday, Alex Loveday, and Rachel Loveday. She doted on her great grandchildren Riley, Elsie, and Phoenix. She is also survived by her very special friend Olin Duke of Etowah as well as her first husband Quay Loveday, the father of her children.
Celebration of Life and Home Going Service will be at 8pm Wednesday, August 28 at Serenity Funeral Home in Etowah with Reverend Jimmy Price and Reverend Zach Davis officiating. Melba will be laid to rest at 11 am Thursday, August 29 at Green Hill Cemetery in Etowah. Pallbearers are grandsons Trent Smith, Joshua Loveday, and Alex Loveday and nephews Nathan Coe, Kenny Jarvis, and Tim Jarvis.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 pm Wednesday, August 28 at the funeral home.
