Roger “Bruce” Wentworth, age 85, passed away on Thursday, July 14, 2022 surrounded by family. Bruce was a member of the American Legion, he won awards as a 911 dispatcher with Bradley County Communications, and he was Vice-President of the Polk County 911 Board and had a Bachelor’s Degree of Arts in Education. He loved sports and was an official for over 30 years. Bruce also gave over 11 gallons of blood over his lifetime to the Red Cross and was an organ donor, giving all the way to his last.
He was proceeded in death by his parents, Roger G. Wentworth and Frances Boughton Wentworth; sister, Gale Buchanan.
Bruce is survived by his wife of 35 years, Elizabeth Sartin Wentworth; children, Elijah Scott of Tallahassee, FL, Misty (Tim) Hyde of Athens, TN, and Blair (Shelia) Wentworth of Bellbrook, OH; 8 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and many friends.
A Celebration of life will take place, Sunday, July 17, 2022 at Serenity Funeral Home in Etowah in the chapel from 5:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. with a memorial service immediately following at 6:15 p.m. Dr. David Tullock will officiate with a dove ceremony and bagpipes concluding service.
